Dāna is the Buddhist word for giving. We continue the 2,600-year-old tradition of offering these teachings freely to those who are interested. All our financial support comes from the generosity of people who value what we do.
Ways to Donate
Donations to Uncontrived are tax-deductible; donations to an individual teacher are not tax-deductible. Uncontrived is a 501(c)(3) organization, tax ID 33-3747373.
Tax-deductible donations support all expenses, including programs, publications, website, and retreats. Uncontrived has no paid staff.
The Guiding Teacher receives no salary and is supported by teacher dāna.
Dāna is Dharma Practice
We at Uncontrived are inspired by the way generosity underlies and fosters the whole Dharma path. This practice unfolds beautifully in a field of generosity.
Generosity works on many levels. Donations literally allow our teachings to continue in the world. More deeply, giving brings joy and peace and supports wisdom. It touches the heart and develops the mind.
And in the end, Awakening is letting go -- the ultimate giving away. Releasing everything that burdens our heart. Each smaller act of giving is a training that encourages the heart in the act that will eventually free it. It is possible to give in a way that leads toward Nibbāna.
For millennia, these wisdom teachings that lead to Awakening have been offered and supported in this way. Please participate at any level you would like. See for yourself how practice becomes fruitful when done in a field of generosity. Thank you!
